Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the total investment I will need to make to open my doors?
We estimate that opening your franchise will range between $86,300 and $136,300. These figures are based on typical costs related to locating, improving and opening the doors of a Mission: Renaissance® studio and includes the initial $35,000 franchise fee. We try to locate spaces that require little construction beyond our own tenant improvements – thus reducing overall costs. The investment estimate also includes your training, the training for one additional person, your initial inventory, office equipment & operational supplies. Moreover this takes into account an estimate of capital you may need to support your studio for the first few months that you are open for business.
2. How much can I earn?
While many franchisors refrain from providing any type of financial information in their Franchise Disclosure Document we have included our most recent income and expense averages related to our current operations that we are more than happy to share with you. While we cannot guarantee that you will experience the same results, it will provide you with insight into the potential of a Mission: Renaissance® studio. Contact one of our Franchise Consultants for more information.
3. How much is the franchise fee?
The initial franchise fee is $35,000 and may be less if you are converting an existing business to a Mission: Renaissance® franchise.
4. How much will my overhead be in running a studio?
This depends on local factors outside our purview. The per square foot cost of commercial space varies widely by neighborhood, city, and state. In down economies there is often better pricing on commercial real estate. Location is critical, however, so the cheapest space is not always the right choice. In addition there will be utilities, supplies, maintenance, cleaning, city fees and taxes, insurance, etc., all unique to your locale. The idea is to find the location that will serve your needs and goals as a franchisee. Part of our service is to help you with this process. The ultimate decisions are yours.
5. Do you provide financing?
We do not provide financing at this time. You will need to have the financial resources available to start a Mission: Renaissance®.
6. Why can’t I just start an art studio by myself?
You can. However, you lose the benefit of our years of experience in running art schools, our marketing and purchasing clout, our proprietary business model, The Gluck Method® of fine art instruction and the Mission: Renaissance® brand!
7. What if I don’t know how to draw or paint?
If you have an interest in art, but have considered yourself without talent, The Gluck Method® was created for a person just like you. Not only will we train you to run an art school, we will also train you as an artist. You will learn that talent can be acquired with training and is not something you have to be born with. Our franchisee training program makes you an art school owner and artist at the same time.
8. What if I’m already an artist? Will this shorten my training time?
Everyone who becomes a Mission: Renaissance® franchisee goes through the same training. Regardless of their art background each will learn a specific teaching method. Prior art training may speed up your understanding of concepts and application, thus shortening your overall training time.
9. How much is the royalty?
12.5 % on the gross income from service sales. There are no royalties on the sale of art supplies.
10. Can I keep my existing job and still open a studio?
Yes, but we don’t recommend this. A franchisee will have to devote time and effort to get their studio established and growing. While we don’t dictate your use of your time, it has been our experience that having attention split between more than one endeavor can be detrimental in building a studio.
11. How long is the franchise training?
On average 60 Days. A lot of this will be determined by how long you are able to train on a daily basis and your own pace as a student. We have learned over 35 years teaching that everyone learns at their own speed. We don’t try to rush you through training; we are more interested in how well you understand the material and how well you can apply it. We want to make sure you understand The Gluck Method® and the operational guidelines for running a studio. Most of the training is done at our main offices in Glendale, California, so you will need to make arrangements to be here for that amount of time (cost estimate included in Investment Estimate).
12. How is the training program’s length decided?
Our training program is designed to provide you with the information we have used to build our studios. The majority of the training will be in what we teach and how we teach it – The Gluck Method®. An instructor’s ability to deliver this program standardly, from student to student, is vital in building the enrollment. Beyond this we also train a franchisee in Studio Management, Sales and Marketing and Studio Financial Accounting.
